Hosted at Goldenrod (486 Barton E., Hamilton)
This is a great place to start for those totally new to sewing, or who need a refresher.
You’ll walk away with a lined tote bag sturdy enough for your library book haul. We have lots of fabrics to choose from, and you’ll be able to add in a personalized touch like a pocket, key ring, or water bottle holder.
In this workshop you will learn how to thread and use your machine, about different types of stitches, pattern reading, pressing, seam finishes, and topstitching. The goal is to send you home with a bunch of fundamental skills, some confidence, and a great new bag.
All supplies are included, just bring yourself (and maybe a little snack).
Whether you have dreams of sewing your wardrobe (it can be done, we’re proof of it) and participating in the practice of slow fashion, want to nail the basics so you can explore mending and upcycling, hope to level-up your handmade gift giving game, or just want to learn a practical skill that will come in handy you for the rest of your life, you are welcome here.
